The weather forecast was not ideal but we made the most of it. We arrived and Jess had sparkly details laid out in her bridal suite. I normally have to ask for something sparkly to use for ring photos, but her Jimmy Choo’s were perfect and the box they came in had that lovely gold metallic logo that is iconic. Nerves were in the air as the we noticed dark clouds rolling in and the trees blowing a bit more than we would have liked. Downstairs, Mitchell opened up a few gifts from Jess that had special meaning, as the couple has bonded over their love of the Cubs. Custom made cufflinks from a ball thrown in the World Series, AYKM?! Yes, those are real baseball stitches in those. Mitchell looked dapper AF in the silver dinner jacket and was giving off major Bond, James Bond vibes. Love a badass groom portrait!
They had a meaningful first look where they first exchanged letters, back to back, building up the moment before the reveal. We had strategically chosen creative portrait locations downtown Findlay based on the weather and were so happy we did. We got a decent amount of photos done in the road before it POURED for bridal party portraits.
By the time we headed to FCC for the ceremony, the sky was happy with sunshine but a bit too muggy & buggy for an outdoor ceremony. Jessica’s brother was the officiant and revelled in the role. He was hilarious, heartfelt and full of tears by the end… as was his son who was at his side during the nuptials.
I love taking time for, what we call, newlywed portraits. The couple after the ceremony, golden hour light and that gleam in their eyes from having just made it official. Towards the end of the night we popped outside again for sparklers and killer portraits against the pastel sky of twilight.
Congrats Jess & Mitchell! I can’t believe the day came and went like that. It feels like yesterday that we were in Chicago at sunrise, giddy as can be that we had the Bean to ourselves. I love the energy you two have and wish you all the best!
